We Support Local, Especially in Times of Crisis

As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on businesses of all shapes and sizes, many small businesses and restaurants are feeling the pain as many people are urged to stay inside their homes. At Bottle Rocket, we love the Dallas community we are a part of, and we love sharing ideas about how to support those around us. Here’s a few of our favorite ideas on how to show our community some support from a couple of our Rocketeers.

“With so many delicious restaurants surrounding us, we find one of the best ways to support our local restaurants is to order delivery or takeout instead of dining in. Many apps like Uber Eats are offering a $0 fee for local restaurants, making it easy and quick to shop locally. If you are in the mood to cook at home, many restaurants in the area are also offering deals on produce and meats so they don’t go to waste. Additionally, Dallas has passed an ordinance allowing alcohol to be delivered and sold for takeout, and many businesses are offering kits and to-go options for your favorite beverages.”

“Purchasing gift cards from local boutiques and businesses to use in the future help to generate revenue that might be lost during these times. Not only are many small businesses adapting to allow their customers to be able to shop online for their products, many are offering sales on items as well. Turning to shops like Etsy allow buyers to support local businesses while still remaining safe at home.”

“Many of us at Bottle Rocket turn to working out while quarantined as an escape. With gyms and studios closed, many locations are offering substitutions for your favorite workout. Studios such as CycleBar and Zyn22 are allowing cyclists to rent stationary bikes to take home as well as offering digital videos of classes. Supporting local gyms through online nutrition counseling and virtual workouts are a great way to stay in shape while at home. Many locations offer other equipment rentals such as dumbbells and jump ropes. If you are on a subscription plan with your gym, not pausing or canceling these memberships while they are closed allows them to reopen when the pandemic is over.”

“Finally, don’t forget to share your experiences for anything you’ve purchased locally with others via social media to remind others to also shop small and support their community.”
